For over a decade, Alliance Sugar Mills Limited has been rooted in District Ghotki, and that rootedness comes with a responsibility we take seriously. Our CSR commitments are not peripheral to our business. They are part of how we define it
01 Education
We believe that a community’s future is shaped by the opportunities its young people have today. In the villages and settlements around our operations in Ubauro, we have invested in access to basic education, because it is the right thing to do, and because a more educated community is a stronger one.
WHAT WE DO
- Support for local primary and secondary schools in the Ubauro area
- Scholarships and academic support for children of mill workers and contracted farmers
- Contribution to school infrastructure: classrooms, sanitation facilities, learning materials
Our Belief
Education is the longest investment a business can make in its community. We are committed to it not as a one-off project, but as a sustained relationship with the schools and families in the areas where we work.
02 Health
Access to basic healthcare in rural Sindh remains uneven. In the communities surrounding our mill, we have worked to close that gap through medical camps, support for local healthcare facilities, and a commitment to the occupational health of everyone who works with us
WHAT WE DO
- Regular free medical camps in partnership with local health practitioners
- First-aid and emergency medical facilities maintained on-site at the mill
- Support for maternal and child health programmes in the Ubauro area
Our Belief
A healthy workforce is a productive one. A healthy community is a resilient one. Our investment in local health is an investment in both, and it reflects our understanding that the wellbeing of the people around us is inseparable from the long-term health of our business.
01 CSR & Community
Corporate Social Responsibility, for us, is not a reporting exercise. It is the practical expression of a simple belief: that we owe something to the place and the people that have allowed us to build what we have built.
Our CSR activities have evolved over more than a decade of operation in District Ghotki, shaped by the actual needs of the communities around us, from emergency flood relief to clean water access, from local employment to support for religious and cultural institutions.
Key Initiatives
Flood Relief & Disaster Response
Sindh is one of Pakistan's most flood-affected provinces. When the waters rise, Alliance has been among the first to respond with food packages, clean water distribution, and emergency assistance for affected households in and around Ubauro.
Local Employment
We are among the largest private employers in our district. We prioritise local hiring at every level of our operations from field labour and mill workers to supervisory and administrative staff, keeping economic value within the communities where it is earned.
Infrastructure Support
Over the years, Alliance has contributed to local infrastructure such as roads, drainage, and community facilities that benefit residents whether or not they work for us. We see this as part of operating responsibly in a rural setting where public infrastructure support is often limited.
Zakat & Charitable Giving
As a Pakistani institution, we fulfil our Zakat obligations annually and contribute to local charitable causes in accordance with our values and the traditions of the communities we are part of.
01 Quality Assurance
QUALITY AS RESPONSIBILITY
Quality assurance is, at its core, a sustainability commitment. When we produce sugar that is safe, consistent, and correctly labelled, we are not only meeting a buyer’s specification we are fulfilling our responsibility to every person who will ultimately consume it.
Our Systems
Alliance Sugar Mills Limited operates a documented Quality Management System certified under ISO:9001. Our food safety management is certified under FSSC:22000. Our halal assurance system is certified under PS:3733 and OIC/SMIIC 1. These certifications are renewed annually and audited by independent third-party bodies

01 Energy
Energy is both a cost and a responsibility. At Alliance, we have built an energy model that addresses both, using bagasse, the fibrous byproduct of cane crushing, as the primary fuel for our steam and power generation.
HOW IT WORKS
After sugarcane is crushed in our mills, the extracted fibre, bagasse is fed directly into our boilers. The steam generated powers our milling operations, processing systems, and facility requirements. By generating our own power from a process byproduct, we reduce our dependence on the national grid and eliminate the cost and carbon intensity of conventional energy sourcing.
Environmental Significance
Bagasse is a renewable, carbon-neutral fuel.
Bagasse-based energy significantly reduces our overall carbon footprint relative to mills dependent on fossil fuels or grid power
Captive power generation reduces operational reliance on Pakistan’s grid, improving energy security for the mill
Forward Commitment
As we modernise our infrastructure, energy efficiency improvements remain a priority. We are committed to extracting more from less, and to leaving a smaller environmental footprint with every season that passes.
